Perfect Running Conditions for Drum Manor 10K
Scenic Drum Manor was a picture in the winter sun for the penultimate race of the 2016/17 Winter League Series which was held on Saturday 4th February 2017. Almost 170 runners turned out to take on the testing but scenic course which comprised of two laps of the forest.
The runners took off at a strong pace as they made their way through the butterfly gardens and past the tea rooms to head out into the forest. Vincent McAlister (unaffiliated) made his intentions clear from the off, moving into the lead ahead of Eoin Hughes (Acorns AC) and Michael Crawley (City of Derry Spartans). McAlister maintained his advantage until the finish to win in an impressive time of 35.27. Hughes and Crawley continued their rivalry illustrated in previous races of this year’s league, with Hughes gaining the upper hand again to finish second in 35.48, just seconds ahead of Crawley who completed in 35.56 to take third place.
In the ladies, Karen Alexander (Acorns AC) returned to winning form in the league finishing first in 39.48, well ahead of chasers Ciara Toner (Springwell Running Club) who recorded another second place in the league crossing the line in 41.38, and Martsje Hell of North Belfast Harriers who was third in 42.16.

The fourth and penultimate race in the 2016/17 Winter League Trail Series is the 10K on the trail around Drum Manor Forest Park on 4th February 2016 at 12 noon. Registration is from 11am to 11.45am.

As usual there will be refreshments served after the race and modern toilet facilities are available on site.
Your usual road running shoes are suitable for all our trail races. However it may be advisable to wear shoes that give you sufficient support as some of the trails can be uneven with loose or soft surfaces.
Directions to Drum ManorDrum Manor is located approximately 3 miles outside Cookstown along the (Omagh/Drum Road). For anyone using a GPS the Postcode is BT80 9RT.
If travelling from Cookstown, take the A505 (Omagh/Drum Road) and travel for 3.5 miles. Entrance to Drum Manor will be on your left hand side (sign posted).
