The Sperrin Harriers 2021/2022 Winter Trail Series will consist of 4 races:

  • Lough Fea 5K – Saturday 11th December 2021 at 12noon
  • An Creagan 5M – Saturday 8th January 2022 at 12noon
  • Drum Manor 10K – Saturday 29th January 2002 at 12noon
  • Parkanaur 10M – Saturday 26th February 2022 at 12noon

Points to note:

    • Your usual road running shoes are suitable for all our trail races. However, it may be advisable to wear shoes that give you sufficient support as some of the trails can be uneven with loose or soft surfaces.
    • Toilet facilities will be available at each location.
    • Unfortunately, no post-race refreshments will be available due to COVID restrictions, however water will be made available.

 

Lough Fea 5K Race Details

This 5K course is flat and fast and is suitable for both experienced runners aiming for a fast time, and also beginners / novice runners looking for an easy starter race.

Directions
Lough Fea is located half way between Cookstown and Draperstown along the B162 (Lough Fea Road). For anyone using a GPS the Postcode is BT80 9TU.

If travelling from Cookstown take the B162 (Lissan Road / Lough Fea Road) for Draperstown and travel for five miles. Lough Fea will be on your left hand side.

If travelling from Draperstown, take the B47 (Sixtowns Road) through the village of Straw. Turn left at the crossroads onto the B162 (Disert Road / Lough Fea Road) and travel for approximately four miles. Lough Fea will be on your right hand side.

 

An Creagan 5M Race Details

An Creagan is located approximately halfway between Cookstown and Omagh along the Barony Road. For anyone using a GPS the Postcode is BT79 9AQ.

If travelling from Cookstown, take the A505 (Omagh/Drum Road) and travel for approximately 13 miles. Entrance to An Creagan will be on your right hand side (sign posted).

If travelling from Omagh, take the A505 (Cookstown Road) and travel for approximately 13 miles. Entrance to An Creagan will be on your left hand side (sign posted).

 

Drum Manor 10K Race Details

Drum Manor is located approximately 3 miles outside Cookstown along the (Omagh/Drum Road). For anyone using a GPS the Postcode is BT80 9RT.

If travelling from Cookstown, take the A505 (Omagh/Drum Road) and travel for 3.5 miles. Entrance to Drum Manor will be on your left hand side (sign posted).

If travelling from Omagh, take the A505 (Cookstown Road) and travel for approximately 22 miles. Entrance to Drum Manor will be on your right hand side (sign posted).

 

Parkanaur 10M Race Details

The Parkanaur Forest course comprises of three laps of the trail around the forest taking you past the stately Parkanaur House and its gardens and along the Torrent River. The course is suitable for both experienced runners and those runners looking for an easy starter 10Mile race.

Directions

Parkanaur Forest is located close to Castlecaulfield approximately four miles from Dungannon and eleven miles from Cookstown along the B162 (Old Ballygawley Road). For anyone using a GPS the address and postcode is 57 Parkanaur Road, Dungannon BT70 3AA.

If travelling from Cookstown take the A29 (Dungannon Road) and travel for six miles. After passing by Carland take the road on right for Donaghmore. Travel through Donaghmore, branching off to the left for Castlecaulfield in the centre of the village. Travel through Castlecaulfield and the entrance gates to Parkanaur will be on your right hand side one mile outside the village.

If approaching from the A4 (from Omagh/ Enniskillen direction), take the exit to the left for Castlecaulfield onto Woodlough Road (sign posted for Parkanaur also) and follow the directional signs to Parkanaur by turning right onto Woodlough Road, taking a left onto Old Ballygawley Road, and then a left onto Parkanaur Road. The entrance gates to Parkanaur will be on your left hand side as you turn into Parkanaur Road.

If approaching from the A4 (from Craigavon/Armagh/Belfast direction), take the exit to the left for Castlecaulfield onto Woodlough Road (sign posted for Parkanaur also) and follow the directional signs to Parkanaur by turning left onto Woodlough Road, taking a right onto Old Ballygawley Road, and then a left onto Parkanaur Road. The entrance gates to Parkanaur will be on your left hand side as you turn into Parkanaur Road.
