The crisp autumnal weather provided pleasant conditions for local parkruns on Saturday. However, on Sunday at Shane’s Castle the conditions were wet underfoot as a number of different races were held there.
At MUSA parkrun, Cookstown Harriers took both the male and female top spots, with Andrew Newell and Joanne Taggart finishing in times of 16.25 and 20.58 respectively. Paula Glasgow was the third lady finished in a time of 22.26.
Sam Cuddy achieved a new personal best, breaking 20 minutes for the first time for the 5k distance, finishing in a time of 19.53.
Paul McLaughlin celebrated completing his 50th parkrun in style, finishing with a swift time of 18.56.
Also taking part were; Mark Reid (19.15), Steven Dornan (21.14), Malcolm Creighton (21.47), Martin Kolbohm (22.33), Patsy Hughes (22.40), Tanya Quinn (23.22), Richard Fox (23.31), Ellen Glasgow (29.43) and Hannah Glasgow (30.30).
At Dungannon Park parkrun, Laura Treanor was the third lady to finish and did so with a time of 23.21. She was followed by Cate Farley (24.37) and Barry O’Neill (28.18).
Jason O’Neill took part in Gunnersbury parkrun, located in west London, just north of Richmond Park. Jason ran well and finished in a great time of 21.54.
On Sunday, Declan Morrison returned to the marathon distance, just 3 weeks after his PB at the Belfast marathon. Taking part in ChampionChip Shane’s Castle Marathon, the conditions were challenging after heavy overnight rain left the ground muddy underfoot, nevertheless, Declan did brilliantly, crossing the line in 3.48.25.
Sperrin Harriers AGM will take place at 7pm in the Glenavon Hotel, Drum Road, Cookstown. All members are invited to attend.
