On Saturday, the long wait for road racing finally ended. The first event in many months took place at Down Royal Racecourse.
The tarmac route which runs parallel to the horse racing course, paved the way for Harriers Brian Taggart and Andrew Newell, who competed in the Elite 10k race. They ran times of 34.47 and 37.00 respectively.
Both runners were grateful for the opportunity and test themselves after lockdown training and commended the organisers and marshals of the event for ensuring it was carried out in a safe manner.
The event was won by Olympic hopeful Stephen Scullion in 29.13.
